A morning at the Fuencaliente salt pans with your own Kite Optics set. You choose from several spotting scope models and use them to photograph birds with your phone. It’s time to test, calmly and in real conditions, what the equipment can do. For 2 to 6 participants.

What it’s about
You choose a spotting scope in the field, not from a spec sheet. That’s where you find out how it handles, how it performs against the light and whether the photos on your own phone live up to what the optics promise. That’s what this morning is for: you get a complete set and all the time you need with it.
The equipment
Choose from these models:
- KSP 80 HD2 (25–50x) – high-end spotting scope
- SP 85 HD (20–60x)
- SP 65 (15–45x)
- APC 60 ED (17–35x) – image-stabilised, great for videos and reels
You also get a carbon tripod, a universal phone adapter and image-stabilised binoculars. The adapter fits every phone model.
Schedule
- 09:00 to 12:00 – Meeting point at the Fuencaliente salt pans. You receive your set, work with it, and I support you along the way.
The location
The Fuencaliente salt pans at the southern tip of La Palma. Here you photograph Berthelot’s pipit and waders such as turnstone, whimbrel, plovers and sandpipers. Black-winged stilts or avocets turn up now and then, occasionally even flamingos.
You spend the whole morning within the salt pans.

How to pay
You pay nothing at the time of booking. Once we’ve discussed everything, I’ll send you our bank details and a Stripe payment link.
- Payment must reach us no later than 8 days before the date.
- If you book less than 8 days in advance, please pay within 24 hours.
- If payment isn’t received by the agreed date, the booking is cancelled automatically.
Cancellation policy
- Up to 8 days before the date: free of charge
- 7 to 4 days before: 50% refund
- From 3 days before or in case of no-show: no refund
